Teachers 'Day Speech - Teachers' Day is an important day for everyone. It celebrates the transformative role of a teacher they play in a student's life. In other words, teachers spend all of their years educating us and helping us become better human beings. However, in general, people forget about their teachers after they leave school. So, it is very important to have a day dedicated only to them and their contributions. Rather, it is essential to show gratitude to these great human beings who shape us in countless ways. In India, we celebrate Teachers' Day on September 5th every year. Many activities take place in order to appreciate the teachers and their offers.

The man behind It
In India, September 5th is chosen as Teachers' Day because it was Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan's birthday. He was a renowned scholar from our country who was also the first vice president and the second president of Independent India.

Prior to entering politics, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan represented the University of Calcutta in numerous international forums in the UK.

After becoming president, his students wanted to celebrate his birthday instead, he asked them to mark it as a day to celebrate teachers. So, due to this and his contribution to academics, his birthday became Teacher's Day for Indians.
